So here's the first of the three prompts I got for More Joy Day. The original idea was to write three very short drabbles or something over the weekend, but then the weekend got busy and frolicndetour's prompt turned into a 3,500 word...thing (I hesitate to suggest it has enough plot to qualify as a story).
